What is hybrid solar?

Smart Energy — Solar, Battery & Grid Working Together

A Hybrid Solar System connects to both the electricity grid and a battery bank. The hybrid inverter intelligently manages all three sources: solar panels, battery storage and the grid — prioritizing solar, then battery, then grid.

During the day, solar powers your home. Excess charges the battery. If solar is insufficient, the battery kicks in. If the battery is also low, the grid supplies power. At night, the battery provides backup. When the battery is full and solar is excess, power is exported to the grid for net metering credits.

Unlike On-Grid systems, Hybrid systems work during power cuts — the battery seamlessly takes over. Unlike Off-Grid, you still have the grid as a fallback. It is the most flexible and future-ready solar option available.

Hybrid is the perfect choice if:

  • Your area has 2–8 hours of daily power cuts
  • You want backup without losing net metering benefits
  • You want to future-proof with battery storage
  • You run sensitive equipment or a home office
  • You own a clinic, shop or small business
  • You want to expand storage later

Smart Energy Priority Order

1
Solar Power (Free)

Solar panels supply power directly to your home appliances first.

2
Battery Storage (Backup)

Excess solar charges batteries. During cuts or night, batteries power your home.

3
Grid Export (Earn Credits)

When the battery is full, surplus solar exports to the grid for net metering credit.

4
Grid Import (Last Resort)

If solar + battery are both insufficient, the grid supplies the shortfall automatically.

Why hybrid?

6 Reasons to Choose Hybrid Solar

Zero Power Cuts

Battery provides seamless backup the moment the grid fails. No UPS switching delay. Appliances never notice the outage.

Net Metering + Export

Still connected to the grid — export excess solar and earn credits on your bill. Best of both On-Grid and Off-Grid worlds.

Maximum Solar Utilization

Every unit your panels generate is used — consumed, stored in battery or exported. Zero solar power wasted.

PM Surya Ghar Subsidy

Hybrid systems are eligible for up to ₹78,000 government subsidy under PM Surya Ghar Yojana. We handle all paperwork.

Expandable Battery Storage

Start with a smaller battery bank and add more capacity as your budget allows. The hybrid inverter supports future expansion.

Smart Energy Management

The hybrid inverter automatically manages all power sources with zero manual intervention. Program time-of-use settings via app.

FAQ

Common Questions

How long will the battery run during a power cut?

A standard hybrid system gives around 8 hours of backup on a typical home load. Larger battery banks extend this, and you can add capacity later.

Can I still get net metering with a hybrid system?

Yes. When the battery is full and solar is surplus, the extra power is exported to the grid and credited through net metering.

Is a hybrid system eligible for subsidy?

Hybrid systems on residential rooftops are eligible for up to ₹78,000 under PM Surya Ghar, subject to scheme rules. We handle the paperwork.

Hybrid or on-grid — which should I choose?

If your area has frequent power cuts or you need backup for essential loads, choose Hybrid. If the grid is reliable and you want the fastest payback, On-Grid is cheaper.
